What Makes Them Special

  • Farm-based operation
  • No GMOs used
  • Pest Management: I think these questions are directed more toward vegetable growers. We are not a vegetable grower, but I'd like to use this space to tell you a bit more about us. Our pigs live entirely outside and have access to warm, dry, shelters. They are moved to a new section of pasture every other week to provide them with fresh ground for rooting. They are protected by two livestock guardian dogs.
  • Water Management: Our pigs have constant access to water from our well and reservoir tank. We feed them a ration of food waste from bakeries and dairies and locally milled hog feed. This fall, we will plant a forage mix of brassicas, grasses and root vegetables for the pigs to self harvest. Our goal is for the pigs to eat entirely self harvested vegetables and food waste.

Weed Management:

We do not spray any pesticide, fungicide, or herbicides. We dig out any noxious weeds by hand. Our main weed is blackberries and pigs love them.
